Have you ever wondered what it would be like to feel at home with yourself and to embrace the person looking back at you in the mirror without constantly finding fault with what you see reflected? Do you find your daily life and relationships interrupted by instinctual reactions that bother and confuse you but don’t know how to get rid of them? Do your thought patterns lift you up or bring you down? If you desire to engage with life decisions, interpersonal relationships, and lifestyle patterns with more confidence, ease, and in a way that bring about results that align with your values and bring you peace then you are making the first step towards a happier life.

Abigail has a passion for helping others understand and accept themselves while encouraging positive changes in both thought patterns and belief systems. She utilizes an approach that incorporates existentialism which means that she believes that every person is fundamentally empowered to control how they react to life experiences. Abigail helps her clients understand that it is not so much what happens to you as how you choose to interpret and integrate that experience into your worldview; making meaning of each situation in a holistic way that incorporates a person’s values and set of beliefs is Abigail’s great passion as a counselor. She also employs Cognitive Behavioral Therapy as she loves to help clients understand why they do what they do by helping them understand that their behavior is the result of core beliefs. Her methodology is to help clients trace the behavior they want to work on to its root which involves exploring underlying thoughts and emotions. Beliefs are the powerhouse behind feelings and thought patterns and so Abigail seeks to help people uncover the “why” behind their worldview and the result of that process is clients getting to replace negative beliefs that no longer serve them with positive, empowering ones that produce thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that propel the client towards the life they want.

Abigail is drawn to the counseling profession because of her interest in helping others and her passion to see people flourish. Her particular focus is on helping clients heal from trauma and her dream is to help empower survivors from pain of any kind to become the best versions of themselves. For example, she has experience working with survivors of severe trauma including young women rescued from human trafficking and teenagers struggling with eating disorders. Seeing lives restored and souls healed from shame and guilt has been one of the most impactful factors that led Abigail to seek a career in mental health.

Abigail is currently a practicum student at Dallas Baptist University where she is completing an M.A. in Professional Counseling. Her former work experiences includes not only mental health but also tutoring and childcare as well as personal assistant and administrative work. A Texas native, she currently resides in the Irving area with her husband where they enjoy cooking, music, and traveling together.

Abigail believes that within every person is everything he or she needs to heal, grow, progress, and recover. It is her great joy to walk with people on their journey to wholeness and self-love and she strives to establish a safe, positive, and empathic experience with every person she meets. A client’s decision to pursue counseling is one that deserves to be treated with the highest level of integrity and respect and Abigail’s commitment is to establish a mutually trusting, honest relationship with every client she works with.
