Do you feel like something is holding you back from being able to fully enjoy your life? Maybe it’s baggage from your past or a current situation or relationship that is causing you to feel overwhelmed with stress. Lacey partners with children, teens, and adults to overcome the barriers that are keeping them from living life fully, with a special focus on trauma, attachment, and family issues.
Lacey was born in Texas, but spent her teenage years overseas, where her parents served as missionaries. She returned to Texas to get her Bachelors and Masters in Social Work from Baylor University. In college, she spent her summers working at Pine Cove Christian camps. When she graduated, she began her career in the child welfare system where she supervised and trained CASA volunteers, ran a mentoring program for youth aging out of foster care, and currently licenses and trains prospective foster and adoptive families. Lacey is trained in Trust Based Relational Intervention © and has been able to use TBRI © directly to train foster/adoptive families to parent children from hard places and to provide family nurture groups to foster healthy attachment between parents and children.
Having worked with many children and families who have experienced trauma, Lacey is amazed at people’s resilience. Her approach is strength-based meaning that she believes every single client has positive qualities and the capacity to make beneficial changes in their lives.
She is also holistic in her approach and believes that “our bodies keep the score.” Our mental, physical, and spiritual health are all connected and are affected by our experiences. If symptoms do not improve within a few weeks of seeing Lacey, she may recommend clients to follow up with a physician or psychiatrist to discuss medication or other treatment options for a fuller recovery.
Lacey’s number one goal for her clients is for them to feel seen, heard, and valued. She believes healing happens in the context of relationships, so will engage with her clients collaboratively. She also knows that gaining insight and knowledge is often a necessary tool to bring needed change, so she will use psycho-education and homework to maximize success outside of the counseling session.
Lacey sees clients at the Dallas location and virtually. She is nurturing, thoughtful, and optimistic. Call to schedule an appointment today. She can’t wait to meet you.
