Is your child or teen struggling with anxious thoughts? Have they been experiencing lack of motivation or low mood? Do you feel like you can’t get through to them?
Our counselor, Pam, has worked with children and teens for years in and out of the counseling setting. What makes Pam so relatable is that she considers herself a teen at heart. In fact, she has a pair of roller skates that she still enjoys using from time to time.
Pam specializes in helping children and teens who struggle with anxiety, depression, suicidal thoughts, and relationship issues with parents and friends. In her sessions, she teaches practical counseling tools to help teens change their negative and irrational thoughts to healthy, rational thoughts. She aims to listen and offer a safe space where kids can open up and be themselves.
Pam enjoys working with parents to teach communication skills that are helpful when talking with children. As Pam sees children, she will often bring parents in periodically to talk about ways the family can help the child in becoming the best they can be.
Pam grew up in New Mexico and spent her college years in California. She moved to Texas to become a counselor. Pam graduated with her Masters in Marriage, Family and Child Counseling from California State University Dominguez Hills. She is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapy Associate in the State of Texas. She has been trained in Child Centered Play Therapy and Child Parent Relationship Therapy which makes her a go to for family, children, and teen counseling.
Pam is an active member in her church where she also spends time volunteering in the children’s ministry. She is in the process of becoming a Board Certified Christian Counselor as well.
