Ready to get un-stuck? You’re not alone in dealing with issues like anxiety, depression, low self-esteem as well as mental, career, or relational stress. You could be one of many individuals who consider counseling because they are struggling to find their voice or set boundaries with friends, partners, coworkers, or family members. Or, perhaps you’re having difficulty managing one of life’s many transitions such as adjusting to college or getting over a breakup. Any of these can act as a halting roadblock, standing in the way of where you are and where you so desperately want to be. Veranda can help.

Veranda’s warm, compassionate, and client-centered approach to counseling provides teen and adult clients the chance to experience affirmation while encouraging transformation. Veranda knows what it is like to be a client in therapy, so her goal is to demonstrate to her clients the same openness, trust, and validation that has been extended to her. Veranda believes that feeling seen and heard are critical to most clients who come to counseling, which is why understanding her clients’ unique perspectives and worldviews is a top priority.

Though she primarily works from a strengths-based cognitive behavioral approach to identify unhelpful self-talk that drives clients into feeling stuck, Veranda may utilize other approaches as determined by each client’s individual needs. She views counseling as a journey in which she and her client walk together through the process of developing insights, clarifying challenges, considering contributing factors, and exploring possibilities. Veranda emphasizes that each client is their own self-expert, so she values following their lead and engaging their critical thinking to identify helpful tools and overcome challenges. Depending on the client, she may serve as collaborator, coach, or champion as individuals are empowered to build resilience, find healing, and discover their most authentic selves.

Veranda earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Southern Mississippi and her master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Northwestern State University of Louisiana in Natchitoches. She has worked as a behavioral coach, psychological assessment specialist, and a social coach. These experiences have informed Veranda’s unique clinical approach, and strengthened her use of evidence-based techniques to support clients. When she’s not counseling, Veranda enjoys spending time with family and friends, going for nature walks with her dog, and losing herself in a novel.

Are you feeling courageous about taking the needed action to move beyond where you are? Let’s explore what’s keeping you stuck and lay the foundation for the life you truly want. Book a session with Veranda to get started.
